Take part in our research
We’re inviting UK parents of children aged 5 and under, as well as NHS professionals who support families with infants, to participate in an important research project on infant formula purchasing/provision behaviours and needs. Our study aims to delve into the factors influencing your decisions regarding infant formula selection and use, with the goal of enhancing market support and understanding for parents and professionals. We are also interested in professionals perspectives of formula provision within the NHS, and how marketing strategies impact on this.
Therefore, we invite you to join one of our our hour long focus groups, taking place in Ayr and Paisley.
In our parent groups, our researchers will ask about the factors that influence your decisions regarding what products to buy, and how you feel about marketing. In our groups for professionals we will explore your perspectives of formula provision within the NHS, and how marketing strategies impact on this.
Each group will take just an hour and by taking part, you will play an essential role in guiding future developments in infant formula production and marketing strategies leading to better options for parents and professionals.
This study is funded by the UKRI Digital Dairy Chain programme, and is led by researchers from the University of the West of Scotland and the University of Edinburgh and Feed.

Focus Group Information
Our focus group will be an informal conversation, led by our researchers who will ask you questions about what you look for in an infant formula product, how you feel about how formula is produced and sold in the UK and your thoughts on formula marketing. You may be shown images of products or labels and asked for your opinions. There are no right or wrong answers, we are just trying to get an idea of parents and professionals thoughts.
There will be up to ten participants in each group, along with a couple of researchers to guide the discussion.
A light breakfast will be provided - a breakfast roll, some fruit and biscuits, along with a nice, hot cuppa - and we will reimburse any travel costs up to the value of £10.
Children are welcome to attend, and qualified nursery staff will lead some fun activities in the same room to keep them entertained while we chat.
We are so grateful for your time in supporting our research, so that we can support women and families, bottles, boobs or tubes!
